If you’re struggling with addiction — to substances, behaviours, or something that feels like it’s taken over your life — I want you to know that support is here. At FD Counselling & Therapy, I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on underneath the addiction, and start building a life that feels more balanced, grounded, and in your control.
Addiction isn’t always about alcohol or drugs. It can also include:
•Gambling
•Internet, phone or gaming use
•Pornography or sex
•Food-related issues or bingeing
•Shopping or spending
•Prescription medication misuse
Whether you feel stuck in a habit, using something to cope emotionally, or cycling through guilt and shame, your experience is valid. Addiction often develops as a response to pain — and healing begins by understanding that pain, not punishing yourself for it.
Together, we’ll look at what’s behind the addiction. We won’t just focus on the surface behaviours — we’ll explore what you’re feeling underneath, and what you may really need.
In our work, we can:
•Explore the root causes of your addiction, including trauma, anxiety, or low self-worth
•Understand your triggers and patterns
•Develop healthier coping strategies
•Rebuild self-trust and emotional regulation
•Work towards your personal goals — whether that’s recovery, harm reduction, or gaining control
You’re not broken or weak — you’re human. And I’ll walk alongside you with compassion and understanding.
Addiction can be isolating and carry a lot of shame. You may have tried to stop or change before, and that’s okay. Counselling isn’t about telling you what to do — it’s about working together to help you understand yourself, feel supported, and find a way forward that works for you.
If you’re ready to take a first step, or just want to have an honest conversation, I’m here. I offer a free, confidential initial consultation to explore how I can support you.
