If you’ve experienced physical abuse — whether in childhood, a relationship, or another setting — I want you to know that your story matters. Abuse leaves more than just physical scars. It can deeply affect your emotional wellbeing, sense of safety, and the way you see yourself and others. At FD Counselling & Therapy, I offer a safe, confidential space where you can begin to heal in your own time, at your own pace.
Physical abuse involves any use of force or violence that causes harm or fear. This might include:
•Hitting, slapping, or pushing
•Being restrained, grabbed, or shaken
•Physical intimidation or threats of violence
•Being injured or left with marks or bruises
•Having objects thrown or used to cause harm
Whether it happened once or was ongoing, in childhood or adulthood, it was not your fault — and you deserve support and care.
In counselling, we work together to gently make sense of your experiences in a space that feels safe and supportive. I won’t rush you or ask you to talk about anything before you’re ready. This is your space to feel heard, respected, and empowered.
We may focus on:
•Rebuilding a sense of trust and safety
•Processing trauma and emotional pain
•Exploring feelings of fear, anger, shame or confusion
•Understanding how the abuse may still be impacting you today
•Developing healthier coping strategies and stronger self-worth
•Reclaiming your identity, boundaries, and voice
My approach is trauma-informed and completely tailored to your needs. Whether you’re still in a harmful situation or looking back on past abuse, I’m here to support you with compassion and care.
Speaking about physical abuse can feel overwhelming. You might feel ashamed, scared, or unsure whether what you went through “counts.” But it does. Your experience is valid — and healing is possible.
If you’re ready to take the first step, or even if you’re just curious about what support might look like, please feel free to reach out. I offer a free, confidential initial consultation where we can talk about how I might be able to help.
